K2 “Sprężyk” Soft Ballistic Inserts for the Helikon-Tex SAR Vest
The K2 “Sprężyk” soft ballistic inserts are designed as lightweight, flexible, and ergonomic protective elements intended for the Helikon-Tex SAR vest. This solution enhances the user’s safety by providing ballistic protection for the front of the torso and, optionally, the back, while maintaining the vest’s functionality.
The inserts meet the requirements of Class K2 according to PN-V-87000:2011, which corresponds to Level IIIA protection against selected threats as defined by NIJ 0101.06. They provide protection against pistol and revolver ammunition, including 7.62×25 mm TT at a velocity of 420 m/s ±15 m/s, as well as against selected fragmentation threats.
Additionally, the design of the K2 “Sprężyk” inserts was tested for resistance to penetration by a knife and a skewer in accordance with the requirements of NIJ 0115.00. The results confirmed that the samples were not penetrated in the tests conducted.
The K2 “Sprężyk” ballistic inserts were tested at the accredited WITU Laboratory for Small Arms and Protective Equipment Testing, which holds PCA accreditation No. AB 171. Four separate ballistic tests were conducted, each on two independent samples, under various environmental conditions: dry, after rainfall, at +50°C, and at −40°C.
Available protection options:
1. Set of front ballistic inserts (left + right)
A set of two contoured ballistic inserts designed to be placed in the front pockets of the Helikon-Tex SAR vest. This solution requires no additional structural modifications to the vest and provides protection for the front of the torso.
2. Rear Ballistic Insert – Back Protection
An additional ballistic insert designed to protect the user’s back. Due to the design of the Helikon-Tex SAR vest, its installation requires the creation of a dedicated pocket to ensure proper placement and secure retention of the insert.
3. Rear Ballistic Insert with Pocket Sewing Service
This option includes the production of a rear ballistic insert and modification of the vest by sewing on a specially designed protective pocket.
You can send your own Helikon-Tex SAR vest to ASTRIVA to have the necessary modifications made. This allows for custom fitting of the pocket to the vest’s design and ensures proper installation of the insert.
Advantages of this solution:
- Protection against pistol and revolver ammunition, as well as selected fragmentation threats.
- Additional resistance to stabbing with knives and skewers.
- Lightweight and flexible design that conforms to the user’s body shape.
- Option to expand protection with an additional back insert.
- Preservation of the functionality of the Helikon-Tex SAR vest.
- Option for individual customization of the vest at the ASTRIVA manufacturing facility.
Important Information:
This offer includes only ballistic inserts and, depending on the selected option, a vest modification service. The Helikon-Tex SAR vest is not included in the set.
If you purchase a rear ballistic insert, a suitable mounting pocket must be prepared. The customer may send the vest to ASTRIVA to have this modification made.
The K2 “Sprężyk” inserts are designed for rescue workers, law enforcement personnel, and other users of Helikon-Tex SAR vests who require additional ballistic protection without having to replace their existing equipment.

Gwarancja Niezawodności: Proces Badań Balistycznych "Biegacz" K2
Quality that protects life
Our covers K2 “Biegacz” with Successfully passed all the tests, meeting the criteria standards PN-V- 87000:2011 and demonstrating a high level of reliability even under extreme conditions of use. Plate deflection was located in the compartment 26—31 mm, which remains below the permissible limit of 45 mm specified in the current standard.
This kind of comprehensive examination is crucial for us — not only as a formal requirement, but as proof of the quality and durability of a product that can decide human life in real conditions.

How do we test K2 ballistic cartridge?
Learn the detailed process of verifying the ballistic parameters of the “Runner” model. From strict legal requirements, to climate tests, to an independent expert assessment of each shot.

Compliance with Standard PN-V- 87000:2011
Before our product reaches the market, it must undergo rigorous ballistic tests, in accordance with the requirements of the Polish standard MON-V- 87000:2011. This standard specifies the test procedures for ballistic shields, classifying them according to their level of protection, and describes in detail the conditions that must be met during testing in order for the results to be reliable and comparable. These tests shall include ballistic resistance tests on a randomly selected group of shields from a given production batch.

Climate and Humidity Testing
Plates K2 “Biegacz” passed 4 series of rigorous trials in an accredited Laboratory of Research of Small Arms and Security Guards WITU. Each test was carried out on independent sets of plates under the conditions of:
Dry conditions — reference samples.
Irrigation simulation — assessment of the effect of moisture on the composite.
Heat up (+50°C) — Imitation of a hot climate.
Cool down (-40°C) — mapping Arctic conditions.

Impact Parameter Control
Each of the tests included 6 shots in precisely defined places on the board, according to the arrangement indicated in the standard, which allows to evaluate both the point resistance and the structural behavior of the shield after repeated firing. The key parameter was the preservation of a strictly defined projectile speed — in the case of the K2 class: 420 ± 15 m/s — with a shot distance of exactly 5 meters.

Methodology and Expert Supervision
A total of 48 shots (7.62x25mm P-shell ammunition) were fired during the tests under controlled test conditions. Each trial was evaluated independently by 2 experts conducting research. The evaluation took into account measurements of the velocity of the projectile and the subsurface depression under the cover formed as a result of the deformation of the plate.
