High-speed image acquisition and DIC analysis systems
In the ballistics industry, a fraction of a second makes all the difference. We utilise advanced High-Speed Video technology to analyse dynamic processes lasting fractions of a microsecond. This allows us to precisely visualise the moment a projectile strikes a protective structure, which provides a deep understanding of the mechanisms of destruction and energy propagation within the armour material.

Visualisation of microsecond phenomena
Thanks to High-Speed technology and DIC systems, we analyse processes that are too short to be observed in any other way.

Visual analysis
We record the moment of impact at breakneck speed, which allows us to freeze the bullet in frame and analyse its stability in flight.

Deformation dynamics
The DIC system generates colour stress maps, showing exactly how energy propagates through the material in real-time.

Destruction mechanisms
We can see how the ceramic layers are breaking and how the composite substrate is behaving, which allows for the armour structure to be improved.

Digital image correlation for 3D diagnostics
Thanks to the DIC (Digital Image Correlation) system, we can non-contactingly measure deformations in three dimensions. This system maps the stresses on the material surface precisely at the moment of ballistic impact. This unique diagnostic tool allows for the identification of areas of highest energy concentration, which is crucial when optimising the layered structures of modern ballistic composites.
Optimisation of energy-intensive structures through imaging
Data obtained from high-speed cameras is invaluable support in verifying numerical models created during the design phase. They allow engineers to "see" the theory in practice and make adjustments to the design of new, more efficient layered systems. This is the technology that allows us to create lighter, thinner, yet significantly safer shields for the end-user.
